The Genetic Test for Hair Loss is revolutionary because it can predict hair loss from genetic factors much before the start of hair loss.
Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, September 30, 2009 — Dr. Alba Reyes, the first physician in Latin America to be admitted to the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery, now offers innovative Genetic Tests for hair loss prediction and prevention.
The Genetic Test for Hair Loss is revolutionary because it can predict hair loss from genetic factors much before the start of hair loss. The test involves DNA analysis and determines whether an individual has inherited the receptor gene of “androgenetic alopecia”. It is the first genetic test to detect the risk of hair loss much before it becomes visible to the eye.
Early detection or prediction of hair loss can help in recommending the most effective medication to prevent future hair loss and baldness. The clinic also offers a new Genetic Test for Finasteride Response, which can predict how well a patient will respond to Finasteride treatment.
As a world leader in Hair Transplant Surgery, Dr. Alba Reyes has always aimed to offer the benefits of the latest hair loss treatments to her patients. Question: I am 39 years old Caucasian male, and I am considering Hair Transplant Surgery to treat my baldness. I have balding on the top of my head but I have lot of hair on the sides and back of my head. My question is this: Is it possible to use the strip method of hair transplant more than one time, without depleting the donor area? Your inputs will be of great help. Thanks and Best Regards.
Answer: The hair transplant procedure is a relocation of permanent follicles from the donating zone (lateral and posterior area of the head) to the balding area where the patient lost his/her hair. The follicles will not regenerate themselves in the donating zone. By taking the follicle from the donor zone we are relocating the follicles (cells) in top the area where the hair density is low. In most cases, with a correct approach by the surgeon, the donate zone could be extract few times (5 times or more) to get more permanent follicles for relocation. In your particular case; Caucasians patient with good hair density in the donor zone; you probably will be able to have few strip procedures.

Question: I am a 28 year old male and have started seeing some balding on my crown - so the scalp is becoming visible. I have read about the both Strip method and FUE method of hair transplant. Is any one of them better suited for my crown balding? Or is it better to just try medication like Propecia and take action if balding continues to progress? Please advice. Thanks very much!
Answer: If this area just started to look clear then the patient would be interested to start using the Propecia (Finasderide) and to wait and evaluate the results of using the drugs later. This drug may slow down the balding process in this area.
After about one year it will be enough time to judge the effect of the drug. If it gets worse after a year then the patient may decide to have a second evaluation with his physician to include also the hair transplant procedure as an option.

Question: I am a 22 year old male and am rapidly losing hair from my crown. The hair loss has been intense in the last few months, and my scalp is becoming visible. I am trying to understand my treatment options. Is there a lower age limit for hair transplant surgery? Your answer will be very helpful Many Thanks!
Answer: While there is no age limit for hair transplant procedure, there are others limits and criteria to evaluate before deciding about a surgical option.
When the hair loss is in the crown area and the patient is young there are others medical alternatives options that may better benefit the patient for the long term. One option is taking Finasteride 1 mg with or without Minoxidil 5%.
Taking the above drug may stabilize your inherited baldness condition and may be better to wait few more years before deciding about the surgical option.
